Recent regulation changes made by the Department of Education have reduced the number of semesters that a student is eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant. Beginning April 15, 2012, the Department of Education started sending email notifications to students who might have a reduced Pell or no Pell eligibility.

At this time, the Department of Education is still providing details to the colleges and universities so that the financial aid offices will know which students have limited eligibility.
