Description

This course focuses on managing care of acute or chronically ill adult clients. Methods to assist the client in attaining an optimal state of wellness in a variety of health care settings will be discussed. Evidence-based practice is incorporated and applied to nursing process to determine appropriate nursing interventions to assist the client and family in their holistic adaptive responses to illness and stress. The nurse’s role in disease prevention, health maintenance and teaching is emphasized. Advanced assessment skills are included for the provision, management and coordination of client care. Critical thinking and decision-making skills are utilized in the delivery of client care. Course content is designed to build upon theory learned in prerequisite courses and the students are expected to apply previously learned knowledge and skills.
